Japanese singer Kouji Wada passed away suddenly at the age of 42 on April 3. Reports say that cause of his death was the cancer in his upper pharynx which he was suffering from Wada’s agency Solid Vox will hold a “Wada Kouji Owakare no Kai” (Kouji Wada Farewell Event) event for his fans and lovers. This event will take place in Tokyo, later this month. More details will be announced by Solid Vox on their official website.
in the year 2003, a tumor was discovered on Wada’s upper pharynx and a lymph node on his neck, though it was treated and he recovered completely at that time. He put a hold on his singing career from 2011 till 2013 stating that he is suffering from upper pharynx cancer.
Wada is most known for performing theme songs for the Digimon Anime Franchise. His most famous song was “Butter-Fly” which was for Digimon Adventure. He has since then sung theme songs for the following Digimon anime; Digimon Adventure 02, Digimon Tamers, Digimon Frontier, Digimon: Data Squad, and Digimon Xros Wars. He also performed the theme song for the Japanese version of Transformers which is Transformers: Car Robots.
